I've been blown away by the response from the PreSales community! Everyone is excited about connecting and building a community that can help us get better together.
I'd love your input and thoughts on what else we can provide to serve our community.
A few ideas that have been tossed up include:
Demo role play matching: facilitate groups of 3-5 SEs to conduct demo role plays to get feedback from SEs at other companies, and also to see how others demo
Mentorship matching: Everyone should have a good mentor. We could develop a program to match SEs and SE leaders with mentors
Research / Benchmarks: Leverage the size of the community to conduct research, benchmarking, and produce white papers on PreSales topics.
What are you thoughts for how we can provide more value to you and the rest of The Collective?

@Yuji Higashi, I would personally appreciate the mentorship matching. As someone who has spent most of my years in pre-sales as an IC, I am curious how one makes the shift from IC to leader. There is definitely more to it than exceeding targets. I also think for those who are maybe new to presales to have a mentor that has been in the industry for awhile, I know I'd be happy to help those just starting out. A few things that come to mind on that specific topic are:
- What makes someone a great SEM? What is your story?
- Whats the day to day like for a pre-sales leader?
- How does the relationship with Sales Leadership and other BUs (like Product, Pro Services, etc) change when you make that shift?
- Pro-tips (for less experienced SEs) for dealing with their sales counterparts
- Building a brand / casting a big shadow.
I really appreciate the input here @Karl! Mentorship is incredibly important for so many reasons. Your topics/questions would make for a great mentorship conversation template, and also a blog post.
