Hi Everyone! I've come to land myself in the enviable, yet daunting, position of building the Solutions Engineering department for my company.
So I am looking for some advice! Where would you start? What would be your primary focus?
To provide additional context as per my specific scenario:
SaaS product that is easy to demo basics but hard to know everything.
Awesome team, from Sales to CS, through Product and everyone else.
Great relationships with C-suite and have near full autonomy.
Background in CS and have been required to wear the hat of SE but no official SE experience.
Where I have started to aim focus:
One demo environment for all AE's that I control (Thank you @Peter Cohan for your post on the perfect demo environment!)
Leveraging Salesforce for AE's to submit requests as Cases This solves metrics/reporting on SE impact on opps as well as insight into trends of where AE's require the most assistance.
I'd love to hear from everyone, whether you've built an SE department before, or you have just been a contributor to an existing team.
If you could build a SE department from the ground up, how would you start?
Looking forward to reading what you have to say!
