I'm doing a bit of research to understand how other companies structure their org. Does your company have a presales chief of staff type role? Someone who manages strategic projects, keeps directors on top of their OKRs and acts as the 'voice' of presales within the greater company?

@John Care do you have any opinions here? Have you worked with companies that have this type of role?
Yes, it is a fairly common role once you get past 150-200 SEs in a global org. Normally referred to as a PreSales Operation Director . I’ve worked with some awesome Ops Directors back when I was an SE Leader, and run into them all the time in my current position. Every SE leader needs one!
Thanks for the input @John Care! I'm curious to hear more about the purview of this role and what their key responsibilities are.
hi @L C! We have a 'Solutions Program Office Leader' and a team of a few folks that help with execution. same concept.
I've never heard it positioned this way, but totally makes sense, I like it! I took a 1-year break from being a field SE and essentially did this role. I described it as "doing all the projects that SE leaders need/want to be doing, but can't really spend time on because they have a ton of people to deal with." We called it "Director of Sales Solutions Strategy". As part of this role, I also established and oversaw Demo Engineering, which continues to grow and become quite critical to the organization. It's definitely a tough job, though.
