Hi everyone,
What is your team's mission statement? Our new CEO asked me to create one that's up to 2 sentences long.
This is challenging since the SE role is not as well defined as Sales or Customer Success.
We are involved in multiple things, interact with multiple departments and to make things even more confusing, we have a different role in different organizations!
For example, in some orgs we are pre sales only and some not, in some we do technical demos and in some not.
I think this is a perfect forum to get more insights into how other organizations perceive the SE function :)
My mission statement is still a WIP, but here goes (feedback is more than welcome):
"Be a strategic resource (both internally and externally), using product knowledge, communication skills, technical skills & creativity to increase the value our customers realize from Chorus"
Hey Noam, here is what we put together for our team here at Sprout Social.
Solutions Engineers are an extension of sales & success to support the AE/CSMs as a strategic resource in deal cycles to help secure and grow MRR.
SEs provide mastery in product knowledge, tying solutions to business value and acting as trusted advisors by delivering tailored demonstrations for customer-specific needs.
Here's what we put together at Dynamic Signal:
Dynamic Signal Solutions Consultants are product and solution experts who partner with the DySi Sales team to help drive revenue growth in support of the company’s business objectives.
We are collaborative and work closely with other teams (Professional Services, Product/Product Marketing, Customer Success, Marketing) across the organization in support of successful customer implementations, product decisions and innovation, and the achievement of company growth goals.
Great topic for discussion! I agree - it's not easy to capture it in two sentences.
Solutions Consultants drive revenue for Outreach by...
Constantly looking for ways to improve our customers’ businesses
Demonstrating, Validating, and Educating on how our technology improves revenue efficiency
Always striving to better ourselves and those around us (Product, PS, CS, Marketing, Sales Community)
For Mavenlink:
“To own and close the technical win, inspiring our prospects to choose Mavenlink.”
A mission statement should
be short and powerful. This is then followed up with a mission pathway, giving 4 more detailed steps on how we achieve the mission.
hope this helps.
Great question. We have a charter, which covers deal execution, rising tide (collaboration within team) and Partnership (collaboration outside of team - f.e. product, engineering, success and marketing). Our charter starts with stating that the SE team is "responsible for proving to prospective customers that Optimizely will help them achieve more business value than any alternative [...]"
I had to do something similar in 2012, here'w what we came up with - The role of PreSales is to articulate the Value of XXX thru activities like Discovery, Demo's, POCs, RFPs and Value Assessments...activities that highlight our Subject Matter Expertise
