Primary Responsibilities

Work cross-functionally to develop connected Sales / GTM programs. Stakeholders include Sales, Marketing, Product, Channels, Finance and others.

Position Title: Director of Sales Strategy

Position Overview

As the Director of Sales Strategy, you will play a crucial role in enabling our GTM (Go-to-Market) teams to achieve and exceed revenue targets. You will lead the strategic thinking, development, and execution of comprehensive programs, focusing on equipping our sales, channel partner, and supporting teams with the skills, knowledge, and tools needed for success.

In this strategic leadership role, you will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to understand their needs and align sales programs with business goals. Your responsibilities will include developing and deploying strategic sales programs from ideation through execution, leading competitive intelligence programs, developing assets that engage sales and drive adoption, and ultimately evaluating program success. This role will also provide feedback on collateral and resources and measuring the impact of enablement efforts through key performance metrics. You will collaborate cross-functionally with teams such within Sales, and across Marketing, Channel Partners, Product, etc. to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging, processes, and strategies.

You will be instrumental in scaling GTM program as the organization continues to grow, ensuring that our competitive positioning, sales policy, incentives, sales programs, playbooks and supporting models evolve accordingly. This position requires a data-driven mindset and the ability to use metrics to drive decision-making. As the team evolves, we expect 3 functions to be established that will ladder up into this role:

  • Sales & Competitor Analysis
  • Sales Programs, Incentives and Communications
  • Deal Desk, Sales Policy and RFP process management
  • Drive prioritization and alignment of Sales program priorities across cross-functional / executive stakeholders
  • Build capabilities from the ground up, establishing a test and learn approach
  • Comfortable creating and disseminating compelling content to small and large audiences and/or executives, in a clear, concise fashion
  • Effectively connect data, market intelligence findings and internal data to client-specific opportunities / recommendations
  • Strong program management skills, establishing initiatives, KPIs and key milestones
  • Serve as strategic advisor to leaders across the organization
  • Lead teams with excellence and integrity
  • Leverage market insights and internal data shape customer and market shaped approaches to sales programs excellence
  • Quickly establish and maintain strong internal network – maintaining credibility and deep engagement with sales and functional leaders
  • Demonstrate thought-leadership and subject matter expertise on the Human Capital Management (HCM) industry and key players within each product line
  • Partner with internal clients to identify needs, prioritize knowledge gaps, and develop research-backed content to fill those gaps
  • Serve as strategic advisor to leaders across the organization
  • Lead teams with excellence and integrity

Requirements

Competencies for Success:

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • 7-10+ years in sales programs, strategy, competitive intelligence or consulting roles
  • Experience developing and leading a similar function at another B2B organization (preferably a sales-driven organization)
  • Familiarity with Paylocity and the HCM industry a strong plus
  • Able to navigate through ambiguity and drive to tangible outcomes
  • Strong consulting skills, including exceptional networking skills, analytical skills, and a demonstrated ability to influence
  • Proactive, strategic thinker who has an ability to anticipate needs
  • Roll up your sleeves mentality and a willingness to personally build out this function without direct reports initially
  • Strong analytical, detail-oriented mindset
  • Ability to understand, integrate, and synthesize data to form insightful observations and clear, actionable business implications
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and influence a cross functional team
  • Experience directly supporting virtual sales teams
  • Expert in managing projects, research vendors, and clients
  • Experience communicating complex ideas/topics clearly and concisely
  • Must have demonstrated comfort in presenting to diverse audiences, including executives
  • Excellent project management skills are a must – must be able to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
  • Successful candidate will have a pleasant, easy-to-work with, amenable personality with a can-do attitude, together with an aptitude to stand up for what they believe is right
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position is $136,000 - $253,000 /yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed. Base pay information is based on market location.
