Technology Specialist I – Solutions Architect and QA Lead - Digital and Technology Partners - Remote, Req#3011521

The position is part of the digital experience team with a primary focus on enhancing patient experience and workforce enablement across our health system. The Lead will act as a principal technology expert for major systems and their subsystems utilizing a thorough understanding of available technology, tools, and existing designs. The position will lead our Quality Assurance (QA) and Solutions Architecture (SA) strategy and team.

This position requires a strategic thinker who is adept at developing and implementing QA frameworks tailored to our unique environment, which includes multiple applications with a major emphasis on Epic and MyChart. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital experience within healthcare and be open to managing resources to support our objectives.

Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders within and outside of the IT organization on digital transformation efforts and promote best practices in QA and digital experience.
  • Evaluate current technology architecture and work closely with IT leadership to recommend improvements and lead the adoption of best practices in software design and integration.
  • Identify and advocate for the adoption of new technologies or frameworks that can enhance our digital capabilities, conducting feasibility studies and ROI analyses to support decision-making.
  • Guide the digital experience team in adopting architectural best practices, including microservices, API-led connectivity, and cloud-based solutions, to foster innovation and agility.
  • Design and architect innovative digital solutions to meet the health system's strategic goals, with a focus on scalability, security, and interoperability across healthcare applications.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of our technology architecture, including system diagrams, data models, and integration workflows to support QA processes and compliance.
  • Lead the selection and implementation of technology solutions that enhance the patient experience and support workforce efficiency, ensuring they align with our QA framework and compliance requirements.
  • Lead the establishment of a QA framework ensuring it integrates seamlessly with our current processes and structure.
  • Develop and implement Web and Mobile-based QA test strategies, using software testing and live documentation tools, both manual and automation.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the QA team and software development teams, facilitating clear communication and collaboration to align architecture strategies with QA goals.
  • Oversee quality assurance of multiple applications, with a special focus on Epic (EHR), to enhance patient experience and workforce enablement.
  • Mentor as part of the digital experience team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards in all initiatives.
  • Provide highly technical consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing technologies that assist the functional business units in meeting their strategic objectives.
  • Acts as an expert technical resource to staff.
  • Performs related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Master's degree preferred.
  • Eight years of diverse work experience in IT with a minimum of six years of experience in systems analysis and application program development, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience working in a Healthcare environment is preferred.
  • Experience in conducting technology evaluations and in-depth technical analyses to support strategic decisions.
  • Proven experience in leading QA strategy and solutions architecture, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with various testing types and methodologies, front-end UI testing, smoke testing, functional testing, regression testing, A/B testing, user acceptance (UAT) testing.
  • Strong understanding of Epic (specifically MyChart) and other healthcare applications preferred.
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in multiple architecture styles and technologies (e.g., cloud platforms, APIs, databases).
  • Demonstrated experience in architecting digital solutions within complex healthcare environments, with a deep understanding of health IT standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) and regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage resources effectively.

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $109,000.00 - $163,695.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
