Position Summary

The Director of Sales is responsible for leading the hotel’s sales strategy to drive revenue growth, market share, and brand positioning. This role oversees all sales segments including group, corporate, transient, leisure, and catering while partnering closely with Revenue Management and Marketing to optimize performance.

The ideal candidate is a results-driven hospitality sales leader with strong market knowledge, proven revenue success, and the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue Strategy & Market Leadership

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue and occupancy goals
  • Identify new business opportunities and expand market penetration
  • Analyze STR reports, market trends, and competitive positioning
  • Collaborate with Revenue Management to optimize pricing and inventory strategies
  • Drive group, corporate, and transient segment growth

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop the sales team to exceed individual and team targets
  • Establish clear goals, KPIs, and accountability standards
  • Conduct weekly sales meetings and pipeline reviews
  • Support career development and succession planning

Client & Relationship Management

  • Maintain strong relationships with key accounts, corporate clients, meeting planners, and local partners
  • Participate in sales calls, trade shows, and industry networking events
  • Lead contract negotiations and major account acquisition
  • Represent the hotel within the local business community

Forecasting & Reporting

  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts and budget projections
  • Monitor booking pace, production reports, and performance metrics
  • Ensure CRM accuracy and pipeline management
  • Present performance updates to ownership and executive leadership

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Catering, Banquets, Marketing, and Operations to ensure seamless guest experiences
  • Participate in weekly revenue strategy meetings
  • Support brand initiatives and promotional campaigns

Required Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of progressive hotel sales leadership experience
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets
  • Strong knowledge of hotel sales segments (group, corporate, leisure, transient)
  • Experience with CRM systems and revenue analytics tools
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in full-service or luxury hotel environments
  • Strong local market knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, or related field
