Learn more about Presales
Why Should I Consider a Career In Presales?

Most of the people we know in presales say it’s one of the best roles in business. A few of the reasons include:

Being part of the Sales effort is exciting, competitive, and provides a lot of variety from day to day. You’re also at the “tip of the spear” of product innovation because you’re closest to the customer in identifying and understanding their needs.

It’s High Reward and Low Risk: because you’re part of the Sales team you get the benefit of high rewards (compensation, bonuses, etc.), but you have less risk because you aren’t held to a strict quota in the same way your Sales Rep / AE is.

No cold calling or negotiating – you get to experience the fun parts of sales without having to deal with the parts that few enjoy.

Impact: You have the opportunity to work on deals and projects that can have a big impact on your customers or your company.

Hands-on Technology: You’re at the forefront of technological innovation and get to be hands-on with the latest technology. And in most cases, presales doesn’t require coding/programming skills.

How is Presales Different from Sales or Sales Development?

It’s worth reiterating that while presales is a sales role/function, you do NOT have to cold call or negotiate. There are other roles in the sales process that focus in on cold calling/outreach and negotiation/closing. Typically a Sales Development Representative (SDR) will handle the front end of the sales process, which includes cold calling. The Sales Reps or Account Executive (AE) will handle client relations and negotiations. You get to experience the fun parts of sales without having to deal with the parts that few enjoy.

What Activities Does a Presales Professional Do Every Day?

Presales Consultants don’t cold call or negotiate deals, and in the majority of roles coding is not required. Typically, Presales Consultants do the following activities on a regular basis:

Technical Discovery/Scoping - understanding customer challenges and requirements

Product Demos - demonstration of the product or solution you are selling

Technical Validation - guide your customer through a pilot or proof-of-concept of your product

Product Feedback - collaborate with internal Product and Engineering teams to influence product innovation

How Often Will I Need to Travel in a Presales Role?

The amount of travel required depends on many factors including the company you work for and the types of customers you are selling to. These days the vast majority of customer interactions happen virtually but as you become more experienced in the presales profession you may travel to visit customers from time to time.

Hands-on Technology: You’re at the forefront of technological innovation and get to be hands-on with the latest technology. And in most cases, presales doesn’t require coding/programming skills.
What is Presales Academy (PSA)?
Presales Academy (PSA) is a comprehensive, on-demand online training program that provides you with the skills and knowledge needed to launch a career in tech sales– specifically in presales (aka Sales Engineering/Solutions Consulting). This self-paced, on-demand program allows you to learn at your own schedule and progress through three unique stages that consist of assignments, e-learnings, and hands-on roleplays.
Why Shouldn't I Just Apply to Companies Directly?
You certainly can apply to jobs on your own. However, Presales Academy will significantly strengthen your candidacy and increase your chances of success. Here are several key advantages to completing our program before entering the job market:

You'll demonstrate genuine commitment to the presales field. Hiring managers often question whether candidates truly understand what presales entails or are just looking for any tech job. Completing PSA shows you've invested time and effort to learn the fundamentals, making you a more serious candidate than those applying without relevant knowledge.

You'll speak the language from day one. Our comprehensive curriculum ensures you understand presales terminology, methodologies, and best practices. In interviews, you'll be able to discuss discovery techniques, demo strategies, and technical concepts with confidence, setting you apart from candidates who lack this foundation.

You'll have practical skills to showcase. Rather than just talking about your potential, you'll have hands-on experience with roleplay scenarios, objection handling, and technical presentations. You can reference specific examples from your training when answering behavioral interview questions.

You'll know what to look for in opportunities. Our program teaches you about different types of presales roles, company structures, and what makes a good fit. This knowledge helps you target the right opportunities and ask informed questions during interviews, demonstrating your understanding of the field.

You'll have ongoing resources and community support. While we don't provide direct job placement, you'll gain access to career resources, job search guidance, and a network of alumni and mentors who can offer advice, share opportunities, and provide industry insights throughout your career transition.

You'll save time by avoiding common mistakes. Our job readiness training helps you understand what hiring managers are looking for, how to position your background effectively, and how to navigate the unique aspects of presales hiring processes.
Is Your Program Part-time or Full-time? What is the Commitment?
Presales Academy is designed as a part-time program that accommodates your existing schedule and commitments. Since the program is entirely self-paced and on-demand, you have complete flexibility in how you structure your learning.

Time Commitment
Recommended Weekly Investment: 6-8 hours per week to complete the program within the estimated 10-week timeframe. This allows for thorough engagement with materials and adequate practice time.

Total Program Content: Approximately 10 weeks worth of content, including video lessons, interactive modules, assignments, and hands-on practice exercises.

Maximum Flexibility: You have up to 6 months from enrollment to complete the program, so you can adjust your pace based on your personal and professional obligations.

Program Structure
No Fixed Schedule: There are no set class times, deadlines, or live sessions to attend. You can access content 24/7 and progress through materials whenever it's convenient for you.

Sequential Learning: While you control the pace, you must complete each stage before advancing to the next, ensuring you build the proper foundation.

Extended Access: You maintain access to all program materials for 12 months after enrollment, allowing you to revisit content and reference materials as needed.

This structure makes Presales Academy ideal for working professionals, students, or anyone looking to transition careers without disrupting their current commitments.
What Things Are You Looking For in Participants?
Presales Academy is open to all interested participants!

It is all about your attitude, determination, compassion, patience, curiosity, honesty, accountability, and positivity. We value doers, owners, hard workers, connectors, and thinkers. Clear, concise communication, and a commitment to helping others will go a long way.
Is Your Program Only for Presales Positions?
No, our program supports all technical go-to-market roles, including but not limited to presales, solutions, implementation, support engineering, customer success and even sales.
I Don't Have Sales or Tech Experience on My Resume. Is Presales Academy Right for Me?
We are looking for signs of sales talent, not just experience. We've had people from a variety of backgrounds participate in the program and successfully land jobs. The skills required for excelling in presales can be developed at any career stage.
Can I Participate in Presales Academy Remotely?
Yes. Our training program is 100% online and entirely self-paced. You'll need to commit to engaging with all program content including video lessons, interactive modules, and practical assignments. While there are no live sessions or fixed deadlines, success in the program requires consistent progress through the curriculum and active participation in hands-on exercises and simulations. We also encourage you to engage with our learning community and utilize available support resources when you have questions or need assistance.
Do I Need a Work Visa?
No, you do not need a work visa to participate in Presales Academy. Our program is a self-paced online training course that you can complete from anywhere in the world. Since there are no live sessions, in-person requirements, or employment components, visa status does not affect your ability to enroll in or complete the program.

However, you will need appropriate work authorization in the country where you plan to seek employment after completing the program. Presales Academy provides training and career preparation resources, but securing proper work authorization for your target job market is your responsibility.

The program can be valuable for international students, visa holders, and anyone looking to build presales skills regardless of their current location or work authorization status.
Am I Free to Join Any Company After Participating in the Training Program? What Are My Obligations?
Yes, absolutely! You may join any company you wish after our training program! We support you in pursuing any company (and role) that you believe is the best fit for you. With our deep industry experience we'll provide lessons and guidance to help you identify the best roles/companies for you.
How Does Presales Academy Help Me Get a Job?
Presales Academy equips you with the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to successfully pursue presales opportunities on your own. Here's how we prepare you for job search success:

Build In-Demand Skills
You'll develop the core competencies employers seek: discovery techniques, demo delivery, objection handling, storytelling, and technical communication. These practical skills give you concrete examples to discuss in interviews and demonstrate your readiness for the role.

Gain Industry Credibility
Completing PSA shows hiring managers you're serious about presales as a career path. Your certificate demonstrates commitment to the field and foundational knowledge that sets you apart from candidates without formal training.

Understand the Presales Landscape
Learn about different presales roles, company types, and what makes a good cultural and skills fit, helping you target the right opportunities and ask informed questions during interviews.

While we don't provide direct job placement services, PSA gives you everything you need to conduct a confident, informed, and successful job search in the presales field.
Will I Need to Move to Find a Job?
It's unlikely as the vast majority of presales roles are remote or hybrid. However, there are a few companies that prefer you to be in an office in a specific city, so they may require relocation but many companies will often cover the cost of moving.
Why Can’t I Just Get an Entry-level Position and Have the Company Train Me?
You might be able to. Yet many people fail to get even entry-level tech jobs, including experienced industry veterans. A combination of skills, experience, and connections is the recipe for success in landing a job - and we give you a headstart in those categories.
How Much Does Presales Academy Cost?
Presales Academy costs $479 for the complete program. This one-time fee gives you access to all three stages of training, including comprehensive coursework, interactive simulations, hands-on exercises, career resources, and 12 months of content access.

We've designed the program to be accessible and affordable for career changers and professionals looking to enter the presales field. For less than $500, you gain the foundational skills, practical experience, and industry knowledge that would otherwise take years to develop on your own.

The investment includes everything you need to build presales expertise: video lessons, interactive modules, roleplay scenarios, assessment tools, career guidance resources, and access to our alumni community network.
