Enterprise Sales Engineer (Kansas City/St Louis)
About the Opportunity:
An organization is seeking an Enterprise Sales Engineer to join a growing Sales Engineering team. The role serves as the primary technical contact and trusted advisor to security, email, and identity teams. The goal is to craft strategic, value-based business cases to win complex Enterprise opportunities and address email and identity-driven security challenges.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the technical authority and decision partner in enterprise sales cycles, owning Proof of Value (POV) success criteria and outcomes
• Lead architecture-level discussions with security, email, and identity teams
• Conduct technical discovery focused on uncovering risk, not just requirements
• Perform technical and competitive landscape research to address customer questions and objections
• Confidently answer architecture-level and modern threat questions without deferring to Product or Engineering
• Explain why legacy secure email gateways fail against social engineering and identity-based attacks
• Educate sales executives and partners on products, platform, and security posture
• Drive customer satisfaction and successful Enterprise outcomes
Requirements:
• 5+ years of Sales Engineering or relevant industry experience
• Reside in St. Louis or Kansas City area
• Proven ability to lead technical discovery and architecture discussions with security, infrastructure, identity, and compliance teams
• Strong verbal and written technical presentation and communication skills
• Ability to understand and present complex business challenges and architect solutions
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced Enterprise sales environment
• Positive attitude with strong customer focus and ownership of customer results
• Solid understanding of SaaS security models including multi-tenant cloud environments
• Working knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP, TLS, and enterprise networking as related to email and SaaS security
Nice to Have:
• Experience with enterprise email security platforms such as Proofpoint, Mimecast, Cisco, Barracuda
• Technical background in messaging and internet security principles
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Exchange Online / Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace
• Strong understanding of SMTP mail flow, MX records, and mail routing
• Knowledge of email authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and common failure modes
• Understanding of Cloud SaaS infrastructure including identity services like Azure AD / Entra ID / Google Identity
• Ability to explain identity-driven and modern social engineering attacks and controls architecturally
• Experience integrating SaaS platforms via OAuth and REST APIs
• Familiarity with SIEM platforms (Splunk, Sentinel) and SOC workflows
• Experience working with or alongside SOC incident response teams and creating incident response workflows
• Security certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or equivalent
Compensation:
• Base salary range: $154,700 to $182,000 USD
• Certain roles eligible for bonus, restricted stock units (RSUs), and benefits
• Individual compensation packages based on skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors
