We’re seeking a Director of Sales to help drive international sponsorship revenue across the global event footprint of Evo, the world’s largest and longest-running competitive gaming event, with a primary focus on Japan in APAC and France in the EU. This role is designed for a strategic seller with deep knowledge of the sponsorship sales process, experience managing sales agencies, and a strong understanding of the gaming industry and Fighting Games, in particular.

Role Overview:

As Director of Sales - International, you will serve as a connective tissue across international market sales leads, agencies, and RTS’ central Partnerships and Evo teams, reporting to the SVP of Partnerships. In this role, you will help shape international go-to-market strategy, guide deal architecture, manage pipelines, and actively support the progression and closing of commercial partnerships.

While lead generation is primarily supported by local teams and agencies, this role requires fluency across the full sales lifecycle, including strategic planning, positioning, negotiation, closing, and post-sale execution. The ideal candidate combines analytical rigor with strong storytelling and thrives in globally distributed, fast moving environments.

Key Responsibilities:

International Strategy and Partnership Development

  • Partner closely with local market sales teams and agencies in Japan, France, and the US to develop market specific sponsorship strategies, category targeting, and commercial positioning.
  • Translate Evo’s global value proposition into compelling, culturally relevant partnership narratives that drive deal momentum and close rates.
  • Support and, when appropriate, directly participate in high-value sales conversations and negotiations.

Sales Process, Pipeline, and Agency Management

  • Own and manage international sponsorship pipelines, forecasting, and revenue tracking across markets.
  • Manage relationships with international sales agencies by setting clear expectations, performance standards, and accountability.
  • Review and refine proposals, pricing models, and deal structures to ensure strategic alignment and commercial viability.

Strategic, Analytical, and Cross Functional Leadership

  • Apply strong strategic planning and analytical skills to assess market performance, pipeline health, and category opportunity.
  • Collaborate closely with Evo product, creative, and event teams to align partnership solutions with upcoming event footprints and operational realities.
  • Guide the localization of global creative concepts while maintaining Evo brand integrity.

Client Engagement and Account Management

  • Join and often lead pitch presentations alongside local teams to articulate narrative, value proposition, and activation approach.
  • Work with partners through the full sales cycle from initial strategy through deal signing.
  • Remain involved post sale to ensure partnership delivery aligns with intent, scope, and expectations, including on-site activation at international events.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in sponsorship sales, partnership development, or commercial roles within gaming, esports, or adjacent entertainment categories.
  • Deep understanding of the full sponsorship sales process from discovery through negotiation and closing.
  • Proven experience working across international markets and managing external sales agencies, with familiarity in APAC and European markets strongly preferred.
  • Strong strategic planning and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate markets, pipelines, and performance.
  • Excellent understanding of international markets and cultural differences.
  • Exceptional negotiation, closing, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Background in gaming, esports, creator ecosystems, or live competitive events required.
  • Exceptional storytelling and presentation skills, with high proficiency in Google Workspace.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
