Pre-Sales Engineer – Datacenter | Life Sciences

Our client in the Life Sciences sector is looking for an experienced Pre-Sales Engineer who has strong Datacenter expertise and a background supporting Healthcare and/or Pharmaceutical organizations.

​

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working closely with sales teams and customers, digging into real business challenges, and shaping technical solutions that actually solve them. You will be the go-to technical resource in the sales cycle, helping design modern infrastructure environments that meet strict regulatory and performance needs in Healthcare and Pharma.

What you will be doing

• Partnering with Account Managers during discovery to understand client goals and pain points in Healthcare and Pharma
• Designing end-to-end datacenter solutions across compute, storage, virtualization, HCI and hybrid cloud
• Building BOMs, SOWs and technical proposals for complex infrastructure projects
• Delivering technical presentations and demos tailored to real world Healthcare and Pharma use cases
• Acting as a subject matter expert on datacenter compliance and security requirements
• Supporting Proof of Concept work and technical validation
• Working closely with post-sales teams to ensure clean handoff and project success
• Staying current on trends like private cloud, edge computing and AI-optimized infrastructure

What you bring

• 5 to 10 years in Pre-Sales Engineering or Systems Architecture
• Direct experience with Pharmaceutical, Biotech or Healthcare organizations
• Strong datacenter background including:
• Compute: blade and rack servers such as Cisco UCS, HPE, Dell
• Storage: enterprise storage such as Pure Storage, NetApp, Dell EMC
• Virtualization: VMware vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T
• HCI: Nutanix or VxRail
• Solid understanding of datacenter networking such as Cisco Nexus or Arista
• Experience with hybrid cloud architectures across AWS, Azure or GCP
• Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery tools such as Veeam, Zerto or Cohesity
• Comfort working within HIPAA, GxP and similar compliance frameworks
• Strong communication skills with both technical and business audiences
• Located in the New Jersey or Metro NY area

Certifications that are a plus

• VCP or equivalent virtualization certification
• Advanced storage or compute certifications such as NetApp, Cisco or similar
• AWS or Azure Solutions Architect
• Knowledge of HIPAA or HITRUST frameworks

Nice to have

• Experience with IaC and automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform
• Exposure to high performance computing used in Pharma R&D
• Experience in an MSP or VAR environment

​

Location and travel

• Hybrid role based in NJ
• Ability to commute to the office is required
• Up to roughly 25% travel preferred
