Sales Director (Data)
Job Description
Such a role does not come around very often as a cutting-edge Data / AI organisation are currently looking for their founding team member in the United States.
This Sales Director will be responsible for driving revenue growth, developing key customer relationships, and building a scalable go-to-market motion for AI solutions, including data annotation and labelling services.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience selling complex enterprise technology in AI, data platforms, SaaS, or ML lifecycle services and thrives in an early-stage market expansion environment.
Responsibilities:
- Own and drive sales strategy and execution across the US market
- Manage the full sales cycle: prospecting, discovery, solutioning, negotiation, and closing
- Build a strong pipeline of enterprise customers and strategic accounts
- Lead commercial growth for data readiness, annotation, and labelling services
- Position as a trusted partner for high-quality training datasets across domains
- Work with customer AI teams to define annotation workflows, dataset scope, and quality requirements
- Establish commercial footprint in the US, identifying priority verticals and regions
- Develop repeatable sales playbooks and scalable processes for growth
- Collaborate with marketing and leadership to shape positioning and demand generation
- Build relationships with senior stakeholders (C-suite, CIOs, Heads of Data/AI)
- Identify and execute partnerships with system integrators, AI labs, and ecosystem players
- Serve as the voice of the customer in shaping annotation and AI delivery offerings
Skills / Experience Required:
- 8–12+ years of enterprise sales experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Proven track record of closing large, complex deals ($250K–$5M+)
- Experience selling AI, data, SaaS, cloud, or enterprise transformation solutions
- Strong understanding of ML lifecycle needs, including training data, annotation, and labelling pipelines
- Ability to operate independently in a high-growth, international expansion environment
- Experience selling data annotation services, labelling platforms, or AI training datasets
- Familiarity with regulated industries (government, defense, finance, energy)
- Experience scaling US sales for an international company entering the market
- Background in consultative or solution-based selling
