Our client is seeking exceptional software engineers to join their Enterprise Data Engineering group in New York. This team builds and operates the core data platforms that underpin the firm’s global trading, research, and investment activities. The environment is highly technical, performance-driven, and centered around solving complex engineering challenges at scale.
The role is suited for engineers who enjoy working on mission-critical distributed systems, who thrive in fast feedback loops, and who want their work to have a direct and measurable impact on trading outcomes. You’ll collaborate closely with quantitative researchers, data scientists, and investment professionals to design systems that shape how the firm understands markets.
Responsibilities
- Design and build high-throughput, low-latency systems that provide reference and market data to trading and research teams across asset classes.
- Contribute to the architecture and development of the firm’s next-generation reference data platform, with a focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Develop and maintain robust ETL pipelines capable of ingesting and normalizing diverse financial datasets into a unified data model.
- Work directly with quants, PMs, and data stakeholders to deliver solutions that improve model accuracy, insight generation, and execution.
- Implement strong engineering practices, including automated testing, performance tuning, observability, and resilience engineering.
- Continually analyze and optimize system behaviour, identifying opportunities for redesigns or enhancements that elevate data capabilities across the firm.
Requirements
- 5 or more years of experience in high-performance or data-intensive software engineering, ideally within financial markets or a similarly demanding environment.
- Strong proficiency in Java; familiarity with C++ or Python is advantageous.
- Experience with financial reference data, large-scale ingestion pipelines, or data modeling.
- A track record of designing and owning solutions to complex, high-impact engineering problems.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and real-time data processing.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and business partners.
- Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
