Sr. Solutions Engineer
Job Summary
We're looking for a Senior Solutions Engineer to join our growing team in Austin, Texas.
The Wise Platform team works with financial institutions and major tech companies at a global level to offer Wise products and services directly to their customers through our API.
Solutions Engineers make it happen by working with partners to build integrations to our class-leading international finance products, while improving our Platform by increasing the capabilities of our public API. The team's goals are to drive the growth of Wise through partnerships and integrations by creating a world class product set delivered through third parties.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical consulting and product guidance to banks and other partners integrating Wise, primarily post-sale
- Ensure partners deliver the best integration within their constraints for an excellent customer experience
- Assist partners in the implementation phase, defining technical solutions and documenting requirements
- Support business development by aiding larger partners requiring novel features, including technical scoping and feature design.
- Participate in feature definition, prioritisation, and long-term strategy planning with the Wise Platform team
- Collaborate with Implementation Managers, Product Managers, and Engineers, making product and project decisions
- Design and develop new features for Wise services and expose them on the public API when needed
- Work on scaling Wise Platform into new regions, overcoming associated challenges
- Improve integration experience through documentation, APIs, SDKs, code samples, and reference implementations
- Collaborate with the technical presales team to support the sales cycle and secure new partnerships
- Enhance internal processes to handle multiple integrations in parallel
- Troubleshoot, test, and resolve technical issues, aiding the API support team with complex problems
Qualifications
Technical Requirements:
Core Technology Stack: Candidates must have a strong background in Java and Python
- While they will not be writing and shipping production code daily, they must be highly technical in scope and have a software engineering background
API & Integration Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience working with RESTful APIs, SDKs, authentication, and security is essential
- Candidates must be able to identify API bugs, run scripts in Postman, and manage sandbox transactions
Solution Design & Architecture: The ability to design end-to-end integrations that are secure, scalable, and maintainable is required
- Candidates must have experience navigating complex integration hurdles, such as currency validations, shifting requirements, and compliance changes
Quality & Troubleshooting: The role involves testing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues, as well as producing high-quality documentation, diagrams, and reference implementations
Cultural And Soft Skill Requirements
The "Translator" Dynamic: Candidates must act as the crucial lifeline between external partners and internal teams
- This requires the ability to translate highly technical concepts into business language for clients, while simultaneously turning partner needs into "product-speak" for internal engineering teams
Consulting & Stakeholder Management: The role demands incredible stakeholder management and the ability to influence without formal authority
- Candidates must be confident acting as a trusted advisor to top-tier financial institutions, navigating difficult conversations, and pushing back on one-off customizations to ensure scalable solutions
Autonomy & Product Thinking: Wise values a self-starter attitude where individuals can identify problems, unlock opportunities, and have the autonomy to own complex integrations from end-to-end
- Candidates are expected to contribute to long-term strategy and actively shape the product roadmap by bringing partner feedback directly to internal engineering
Mentorship & Continuous Improvement: At the IC3 level, candidates must possess a coaching mindset to mentor junior team members and continuously propose new tools and processes to improve delivery efficiency
