Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Sales Engineer who will serve as both a technical solutions expert and a quota-carrying salesperson. This individual will combine intermediate technical understanding with business acumen to identify opportunities, shape proposals, and close deals. The Sales Engineer will act as a trusted advisor to customers, helping translate mission requirements into CSC solutions while also being accountable for generating and closing sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Generation & Pipeline Management
- Drive new business opportunities with aerospace, defense, and commercial space customers.
- Own the sales cycle from lead generation through contract close.
- Meet or exceed revenue targets and growth objectives.
- Work collaboratively with internal sales leadership, external sales partners, and channel relationships to maximize market reach.
- Technical Pre-Sales & Solutioning
- Engage with engineering teams to deeply understand CSC’s shielding products and capabilities.
- Translate customer technical requirements into clear solutions and proposals.
- Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and customer workshops.
- Customer Engagement & Relationship Building
- Develop long-term customer relationships at both the technical and executive levels.
- Act as the customer voice internally, working closely with engineering, product, and leadership.
- Represent CSC at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
- Proposal & Contract Support
- Prepare RFI/RFP responses, technical content, and customer-specific solution packages.
- Negotiate contracts in collaboration with leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Aerospace, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–10+ years of experience in sales engineering, technical sales, or business development in aerospace/defense/advanced materials.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proven track record of independently generating and closing deals.
- Excellent presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
Preferred
- Experience selling into space, aerospace, or defense markets.
- Knowledge of radiation shielding, space materials, or spacecraft systems.
- Existing network within U.S. government agencies, defense primes, or satellite operators.
Compensation & Benefits
- The expected salary range for this senior role is $130,000 – $160,000 base salary annually, plus commission and performance-based incentives. On-target earnings (OTE) are expected to be in the $180,000 – $220,000+ range for candidates meeting revenue goals. Actual compensation will vary based on experience, qualifications, and location, in accordance with applicable laws across all U.S. states.
