Overview
Our client is a fast-growing, enterprise-focused technology company delivering cloud-native, data-driven solutions to complex customer environments. They are seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer (Pre-Sales) to partner with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to drive technical win rates across mid-market and enterprise accounts. This role is customer-facing and highly technical, owning the pre-sales solution design, product demonstrations, proof-of-concept engagements, and technical validation processes. The ideal candidate blends strong architectural skills with exceptional communication and the ability to translate complex technology into clear business value.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Sales Technical Leadership
- Partner with Account Executives to support complex sales cycles from discovery through close.
- Act as the technical subject-matter expert during customer engagements, RFPs, and executive presentations.
- Lead technical discovery sessions to understand customer requirements, architecture, and constraints.
- Design end-to-end solutions that align customer needs with product capabilities.
Solution Architecture & Design
- Architect scalable, secure solutions across cloud, data, and application layers.
- Design integrations with customer environments including:
- REST APIs
- Webhooks
- Data pipelines
- Identity providers (SSO, OAuth, SAML)
- Advise customers on best practices for deployment, security, and scalability.
- Validate architectural feasibility and identify technical risks early in the sales cycle.
Product Demonstrations & Proofs of Concept
- Deliver compelling product demonstrations tailored to customer use cases and industries.
- Design and execute proof-of-concept (POC) and pilot implementations.
- Configure environments, datasets, and integrations to showcase real-world value.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to address gaps uncovered during POCs.
Security, Compliance & Technical Validation
- Address customer questions related to security, privacy, and compliance (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, etc.).
- Support customer security reviews, technical due diligence, and architecture questionnaires.
- Partner with Security and GRC teams to align product capabilities with customer requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Provide field feedback to Product and Engineering on feature gaps, competitive insights, and customer needs.
- Contribute to product roadmap discussions and go-to-market strategy.
- Collaborate with Customer Success to ensure smooth handoffs post-sale.
Sales Enablement & Thought Leadership
- Create technical sales collateral including architecture diagrams, solution briefs, and demo assets.
- Mentor junior Solutions Engineers and contribute to team best practices.
- Represent the company at industry events, webinars, and customer workshops.
Qualifications
- 7–12+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Solutions Architecture roles.
- Strong background in cloud-based SaaS platforms and enterprise software.
- Hands-on experience with:
- AWS, Azure, or GCP
- APIs and system integrations
- Modern application architectures
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience supporting mid-market and enterprise sales cycles.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with data platforms, analytics, or AI/ML-driven products.
- Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of enterprise security and compliance frameworks.
- Prior experience in high-growth or startup environments.
