The Cafe Training, Development & Implementation Manager

The Cafe Training, Development & Implementation Manager will lead the design, coordination, and delivery of training and development initiatives for café teams and managers across the FairWave Collective. This role is responsible for both functional training and leadership development. This role is also responsible for leading the rollout of cafe system operational initiatives across the Collective to ensure a seamless integration of new systems, processes, and tools by coordinating cross-functional teams and project timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Champions all levels of Café Management, training, and ongoing development curriculum and ensure that Team Members, Supervisors and Managers are both compliant and growing in their roles.
  • Assist in creating and updating training materials, including manuals, guides, and multimedia content, ensuring they are relevant, up-to-date, and effective.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
  • Conduct regular training and development needs assessments through surveys, interviews, and consultations with café operations and HR to identify skills assessment, leadership benchmarks, and career pathing tools to support café career growth and development.
  • Provide training and tools for managers to grow in coaching, team development, accountability, and communication.
  • Supports the internal Learning Management System (LMS) including content creation and module review.
  • Partner with the People & Culture team and Operations leaders on Manager In Training (MIT) selection, onboarding, and training of new MITs. Provides feedback to lead operator on MIT progress and performance.
  • Provides updates on training completion, compliance reporting, and checking for understanding with key audiences during café visits.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience in training, learning & development, or operations within the hospitality or food service industry.
  • Ability to travel to each market for system rollouts or training initiatives.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong background in café or restaurant operations preferred (barista, café manager, or trainer experience is a plus).
  • Experience designing and delivering both hands-on and leadership training programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple training projects and adapt content for different audiences.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working cross-functionally.
  • Proficiency with tools like Microsoft, Google Workspace, LMS platforms, and basic content creation software.
