2023 State of Diversity Survey is Now Live!

In 2021, the PreSales Collective released a State of Diversity report for the entire PreSales community. This report, with research supported by the Sales Talent Agency, benchmarked diversity metrics in our industry so that we could more fully understand the gender and ethnic makeup of the profession. We committed to putting out a report every year so that we could use the data over time to track trends and most importantly, focus on engagement with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) efforts fieldwide.

So, where is this year’s report?

The report will be released in 2023 as we have been hard at work on a much larger, more comprehensive survey to gather more robust data. For this new and improved survey, we collaborated with PhD researchers and PreSales executives who are focused on the qualified advancement of DE&I programs and initiatives across our industry. PSC takes our role in helping promote diversity in the profession seriously. We know the impact and importance of providing actionable data that our community can use to support the advancement of DE&I programs and initiatives in the field. This survey will help us play our part even better and we are grateful for your participation.

The long answer

When PSC set out to benchmark our industry in this way, we knew that we had our work cut out for us: Gathering data is a tricky science. In looking for ways to improve on last year's report, we reached deeper into the research on corporate DE&I programs. The research tells us that traditional programs have little to no effect on changing behavior and can actually result in declines in the diversity of organizations and in the career trajectories of diverse employees. With this information, we decided that we should change our approach and conduct an industry-wide survey, with direct responses from individuals currently in a PreSales role and those who have left the PreSales profession. We believe this will give us the foundation to provide our members and organizations with a thoughtful assessment of the current environment, as well as provide insights on programs to affect change in a way that’s positive for the entire community. So, we decided to grow this project tenfold, gathering a team of experts, passionate PreSales professionals, and dedicated PSC staff to work on this project.

The survey is now live and we will collect responses through February to release our new report in the spring of 2023. We’ll host a half-day conference dedicated to the release of the report, coupled with resources for you to take back to work and start utilizing immediately.

We expect that this report will set the standard for how we engage with this work going forward and continue benchmarking our profession. We hope you will use it to make stronger case statements in hiring practices, start programs and initiatives of your own, and at the very least, feel validated in your experiences in this industry. This report is for everyone and we look forward to it being in your hands soon.

Thank you for joining us on this journey and continuing to hold our industry to such a high standard. Please submit your feedback to the survey and share the link with your PreSales peers (all responses are anonymous).
